    Recommended Hiking Time

marangu route can be tackled in five days but we recommend the six days option. More days on the mountain offers good acclimatization. The 5 days option is only advised to experienced hikers and does not have the same success rate as the 6 days option.

    Difficulty level

Although the route is famously known as the easy route it is actually not easy because of its direct approach to the mountain which limits the acclimatization factor.

Frequently asked questions about Marangu route

What is the route’s success rate?

Marangu route offers a direct path to the mountain and does not have climb high and sleep low choice; this may not be good for acclimatization. the overall rate for success is about 50% using the five days marangu route; this being said marangu may not be the best option for first time climbers and we recommend other routes like machame or lemosho which have great acclimatization profile.
